#ThrowbackThursdayBookstagram: I’ve Got Your Number

This week’s #ThrowbackThursdayBookstagram features I’VE GOT YOUR NUMBER by Sophie Kinsella.

I never found Kinsella’s Shopaholic series to my liking (unlike just about everyone else on the planet), but this book was a fun, quick read. In fact, readers called it “hilarious,” “engaging,” and a “delightful” read, and I would agree.

Kinsella knows how to write the bumbling, goofy female and when to up the stakes, and in this story she does both. Main character Poppy Wyatt loses her engagement ring during a hotel fire drill, and that ring just so happens to be a family heirloom. It also just so happens that her fiancé’s family is coming that day. And, her phone gets stolen. (What did I say about upping the stakes?)

Years ago, being without a phone wouldn’t mean anything, but these days (even in 2012, when this book was first published), being phoneless is like losing a lifeline. So the first thing Poppy does is steal a phone to replace hers. And that’s when the hijinks begin.

If you’ve not read anything of Sophie Kinsella’s, I think this is a good one to start with. You’ll get a feel for her writing and characters and the sorts of predicaments she places them in. And if you’re a little stressed because of any reason at all, this lighthearted read might bring your blood pressure down a little.

If you do read it, let me know what you think! I’m always interested in hearing what other folks have to say about books I’ve read.
