Happy Thursday! This week features FALLING TOGETHER by Marisa de los Santos.

First, let me say this: If you have never read a book by Marisa de los Santos, you should. You really should. She’s a poet and a novelist, and every one of her sentences is beautiful. In fact, one Goodreads reviewer wrote of de los Santos: “I love an author who can write so beautifully that your life is made better by reading the books they write.” That’s facts (as my friends would say).

The book itself is a story about relationships, mainly friendship, as it features Pen, Will, and Cat, three friends who met in college and thought they’d be inseparable. Of course, life has other plans, and “they went their separate ways.” Fast forward six years, and Pen and Will both agree to help Cat and meet her at an upcoming reunion. The beauty in this book is the unfolding of the story, the elegance of the language, the complexities of the characters. The reader comes to know Pen, Will, and Cat like they would their own friends and family. It highlights the importance of true friendship and the unbreakable bonds they have.
